In older Windows versions, such as Windows 7, new user accounts still had to be created via the control panel. In the meantime, the whole thing has been simplified a bit under Windows 10. We will show you three different methods of how you can create a new user. Decide for yourself which method you prefer.

By the way: In the further course of the process, Microsoft / Windows advises against creating a user account without a Microsoft account link. However, you should still follow the step in the instructions: This is how you create a purely local account. The advantage of a local account is that Microsoft cannot see what you are doing and you are not linked to your Microsoft account. You still have the option to link your Microsoft account to your local user account later.

      1. Open the Windows settings and click on the heading "Accounts".
      2. Click on the category "Family and other users".
      3. Then select "Add someone else to this PC".
      4. When a Microsoft account is available for the new user, enter the associated e-mail address and click on "Further". The Microsoft account is set as a new user.
