Whitsun market with a new supporting program - April 26th, 2017

Sales exhibition with new products / showmen offer a varied program / opening ceremony with Deputy Prime Minister Dr. Volker Wissing

Right on time for Whitsun, visitors can discover the latest products from regional companies on the festival square on the Rhine. The nine-day Worms Whitsun Market relies on a combination of attractive entertainment and a classic trade show. From June 3 to 11, visitors can find out about the latest trends, try out exciting rides and enjoy a wide range of dining options. The Deputy Prime Minister of Rhineland-Palatinate, Dr. Volker Wissing, as guest.

With its popular mix of attractive rides, delicious gastronomy and exciting new products, there is something to discover for every visitor to the Worms Whitsun Market. On the classic “fairground” of the showmen, visitors can expect rides such as the “Troika” music express, auto scooters or the “Shake & Roll” round trip, a fast-paced carousel with the look of the 1950s. The big wheel and the “Flipper” amusement ride, with twelve gondolas swinging and rotating freely at a height of 14 meters, take you up high. Younger visitors can enjoy the mini scooter, the children's carousel or a children's train. The entertainment offer is rounded off by the walk-in XXL Lachhaus. If you need a refreshment in between, you can look forward to a diverse culinary offer on the fairground. The showmen also provide a varied program during the nine days. "We have planned some special actions" reveals the first chairman of the Worms Showmen Association, Rene Bauer. He is certain: “There will be something for every visitor.” On Wednesday, June 7th, a puppet theater will tell about “Punch and Judy in the realm of the Nibelungs”. When it gets dark, the showmen's association will create a great atmosphere on Friday, June 9th, with a large musical fireworks display. The fire will also be played on Saturday, June 10th, when the fire show “Hagens Spiel mit dem Feuer” begins at 5, 7 and 9 p.m. under the B9 bridge. On the last day of the Whitsun market, nostalgia fans can marvel at old-fashioned tractors at the all-day tractor meeting. The tractor drivers prove all their skills in a competition in skill driving. If you want to take part in the competition, you can contact the secretariat of the Schaustellerverband Worms-Wonnegau e.V., which can be reached on Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings on 06241 - 25 9 30. The exact time of the competition will be announced. From 2 p.m. the characters from the film "Frozen" find their way to the fairground. On this Sunday, June 11th, there will even be a world record attempt in balloon crunching. The spectacle will take place at 4 p.m. under the B9 bridge. Thursday is family day

On Thursday, June 8th, the Schaustellerverband Worms-Wonnegau e.V. invites you to a family day. On this day, reduced fares apply and the children can look forward to a visit to the characters from the film "Frozen", among other things. In the area under the B9 bridge, there is also face painting and artists who shape funny animals out of balloons.

Opening ceremony with the Deputy Prime Minister

The opening celebrations begin with the traditional walk of the Fischerwääder, led by the Bojemääschter and the Backfischbraut, to the fairground. The train receives musical accompaniment on the way from the Großer Fischerweide to the exhibition grounds from the Fanfare Corps Nibelungenstadt Worms e.V. At 3 p.m. the opening of the Whitsun Market in Hall 2 begins with a greeting from Mayor Michael Kissel. Benjamin Müller will lead through the program of the opening ceremony, which will be organized by Kultur und Veranstaltungs GmbH. This is followed by the traditional presentation of this year's Backfischbraut by the Verein für Customs care e.V. together with the guest of honor, Dr. Volker Wissing, then you go on a tour of the fairground. Another highlight of the program is the performance of the dance school in the park.

Sales exhibition with over 100 exhibitors

Almost 100 exhibitors and marketers present their products and services in the tent halls on the outdoor area on around 11,000 square meters of exhibition space.

The car show takes place in the open air at the Worms Whitsun Market. Among other things, visitors can find out about vehicles from brands such as Mitsubishi, Peugeot, Hyundai and Honda.

In the halls, the areas of building, living, furnishing and renovating as well as household and fashion are an important topic. All sorts of practical, useful and delicious items such as spices, oils, jewelry and handicrafts can be found on the now firmly established dealer street.

Hall 2 is the right place for anyone who needs a little break. The Wormser Hausfrauen-Verein e. V. with sweet, home-baked delicacies for your physical well-being.

Background: More than 750 years of tradition

The roots of the Worms Whitsun Market go back to 1243. At that time, the free imperial city of Worms was granted market rights by Emperor Friedrich II. This gave Worms the right to hold a fair every year after Easter for a period of two weeks. Merchants and traders from outside were also allowed to attend this fair.

The Worms Pentecost Market is an event of the city of Worms, area 3 security and order. The supporting program is coordinated by the Schaustellerverband Worms-Wonnegau e. V., the trade fair and exhibitions are organized by D. Koenitz GmbH Koblenz. The Kultur und Veranstaltungs GmbH is responsible for the opening ceremony of the Whitsun Market.
