Enable and disable search history

Activate and deactivate search history

Learn more about viewing, deleting, turning off, or turning on your search history.

The search history shows what you searched for, when you searched for something and which websites you visited. It can also improve your search results based on the results you clicked.

Turn off search history

When search history is turned off, no new items are added to your search history. The existing history is not deleted. To do this, you must explicitly delete the search history.

  • On the Search History page, under Change your history settings, click Off.

If you can't turn off search history, turn on JavaScript and cookies in your browser and try again.

Clear the search history
  • If you are not signed in

    To delete a single search from history, on the Search History page, click the X next to the search you want to delete.

    To clear all of your search history, on the Search History page, under Change your history settings, click Clear All. This will clear the search history on that device.

  • When you're signed in to a Microsoft account

    On your Microsoft privacy dashboard, under Clear Search History, click Clear Search History, then click Clear. This will clear the search history for your Microsoft account.

  • If you're signed into a work or school account

    On the Search History page, under Clear Search History, click Clear All, and then click Yes. This will delete the search history of the respective account.

View search history
  1. From any Bing.com page, click the in the upper right corner, then click Search History.
  2. To view your search history by type or date, use the menus above the search history.
