How to change the Firefox home screen

Set and change Firefox homepage: Here's how

You can set the Firefox homepage yourself. Instead of the Mozilla Firefox website, the browser then opens with Google, for example. You can also make multiple websites your home page or start with your final tabs. You can find out how to set or change the Firefox start page in the following instructions.

The Mozilla Firefox browser website may be beautifully designed, but you probably use other websites more often. To make another website your home page, first click on the hamburger icon with the three horizontal bars in the top right corner. Then select the "Settings" menu with the gear icon.

The first submenu in the left bar is called "General". You have come to the right place here. You can find the relevant options under the entry "Start".

Define new start page (s) yourself

To set a new start page yourself, enter its web address (URL) next to "Settings> General" under the "Start page" option. In the drop-down menu above, the option "Show start page" should be selected. If you now close the browser and start it again, it will be called up with the start page entered here.

What many do not know: You can also define two or more start pages yourself. To do this, enter the URLs of the websites you want next to each other under "Start page", where they must be separated by the so-called "palm tree", a vertical line. You insert the palm tree with the key combination "Alt Gr + <" between the URLs. You don't need a space next to URL and palm.

Make current website (s) the homepage

You can also make the website you are currently viewing your home page. To do this, click on "Use current pages" under "Settings> General> Start". Please note, however, that not only the active tab is declared to be the start page, but all open tabs.

Use a bookmark as your homepage

The most important websites are organized in the bookmarks. So it stands to reason that Firefox also lets you choose a bookmark as your start page. But not just one, you can optionally open the browser with all websites saved in a bookmark folder.

First click on "Use bookmarks ..." and then select either a single website from your bookmarks or an entire folder. Now go to "OK" and the bookmark will automatically be set as the start page.

Start with a blank page

Start Firefox with a blank page by selecting the option "Show blank page" to the right of "Settings> General> When Firefox starts". The empty pages in Firefox are not completely empty. You will find a search bar that you can use to search for a term in Google, Bing, Yahoo, Wikipedia and Co. In addition, the most recently visited websites are displayed in a preview below.

Start with the windows and tabs of the last session

If you want to continue exactly where you left off last time, select the option "Show windows and tabs from last session" under "Settings> General> When Firefox starts". With each restart, the windows and tabs of the last session are displayed - so it's not just about the current last session.
