Love is one of the last mysteries, there is something magical about it, a touch of fairy dust. Somehow, Susanna Ernst managed to sprinkle this fairy dust between the pages of her books, both printed and digital: Since the publication of "Your soul in me", the discovery of neobooks Ernst has been collecting enthusiastic, almost anthemic readers' voices; there are now over 600 on Amazon alone, 435 times 5 stars. "Fantastic", "magical" or quite simply "brilliant" - this is how their fan base also judges the eBook edition of "Always when it rains stars". And this fan base will continue to grow, because Susanna Ernst writes with "a lot of feeling, but also tension and humor are not neglected". What more do women want? The story of Mary and Jeremy, of course, with too many misunderstandings between them. Until they follow in the footsteps of an impossible love from the 1920s and it suddenly rains stars.

The first narrative thread of the story leads to the twenties of the last century. He has the protagonists Gracey and Adam. Letters in an old secretary lead to this clue, and the somehow tragic love story it contains. What the letters contain is shaped by retrospectives from the author's point of view. The second narrative thread deals with the present. Mary and Jeremy and their story are central here. In contrast, Eliah, the other protagonist, looks a bit out of time. There is something magical and mystical about it. The further course is determined by the development of the two. How both narrative strands dissolve at the end of the story, I don't want to reveal here. Just this much: I really liked the breakup of both strands at the end of the story. So much of this can be revealed that the two narrative strands converge at the end. The work that began many years ago is actually being continued. Ms. Ernst wrote the story in a fluid, easy-to-read style. She also uses magical and mystical elements to give the story its character. The individual figures are designed in such a way that they arouse the desire to read. When I dived into the book, I found it hard to come up against it. I became more and more curious about the progress of the story.

Mary finds an antique secretary she must have at a flea market. In it she finds a bundle of love letters from the 1920s. Adam wrote to his secret lover Grace about his longing. In it she finds a bundle of love letters from the 1920s. Adam wrote to his secret lover Grace about his longing. Mary is so touched by his words that she embarks on a journey. She has to face her past, which will also turn her life upside down in the present. The story is told on two levels, Adam and Grace and Mary and Jeremy. I liked all of the main characters, although it took a moment. I struggled with the story drawn from the ongoing reflective conversations between Mary and Jeremy. So I had the feeling that the story of Adam got into the background, which I thought was a shame. I would have preferred to focus more on his true love. But that's a matter of taste. In general, I found the narrative too constructed. Slightly less wanted connections wouldn't have hurt the story. Therefore I give it 3 stars.
