Internet Explorer does not display any images - that could be the problem

If Internet Explorer suddenly stops displaying images, this could be for various reasons. In this practical tip, we will show you how to fix the error again.

No pictures in IE: Activate picture display in Internet Explorer

It is possible that you have accidentally deactivated the display of images in Internet Explorer. The setting can be quickly reversed.

  1. Click the gear icon in the upper right corner. Then select "Internet Options".
  2. Switch to the "Advanced" tab. There you look for the entry "Show pictures" in the "Multimedia" area and tick the appropriate box. Then click on the OK button.

Internet Explorer: The compatibility view helps with picture problems

If the website with the images is not optimized for your version of Internet Explorer, you can call up the page in compatibility mode. To do this, simply click on the corresponding symbol in the address bar or follow these steps.

  1. Click the gear icon in the upper right corner. Then select "Compatibility View Settings".
  2. In the "Add the following website" field, enter the address of the website with the images that are not displayed. Then click on "Add" and close the window.

The tracking protection prevents the display of images

  • In some cases it also helps to deactivate Internet Explorer's tracking protection.
  • To do this, click on the gear icon in the upper right corner. Then first select "Security" and then "Deactivate tracking protection".

No images due to ActiveX filtering in Internet Explorer

  • Activated ActiveX filtering can also mean that not all images are displayed correctly in Internet Explorer.
  • You can deactivate the function by clicking on the gear symbol in the upper right corner. Then move the mouse pointer over "Security" and then select "ActiveX filtering".

No images in Internet Explorer: other suggested solutions

  • Right-click the area where the image should be and select "Show Image" from the context menu.
  • Clear the Internet Explorer browser cache.
  • Reset Internet Explorer to the default settings. You can find more information in the video above.
  • You cannot always fix the problem yourself. The images may really not be available. Try a different browser. If the pictures are missing here too, there is probably a problem with the website.
